REFERENDUM

The Town of Brookfield is considering a transfer of all the town's right, title and interest in and to approximately 54.42 acres of land on West Road, to the Beaver Valley Rod and Gun Club, Inc. for the sum of $1.00.

This property, known as tax parcel #142.-1-1, was received without cost of the town in 2009 from the county of Madison and has been used and improved by the said Road and Gun Club for several years with County permission.  Said Rod and Gun Club will not allow any mining or exploration or extraction of mineral or natural gas.  Said Rod and Gun Club will maintain the outlet for Gorton Lake and will allow members of the Gorton Lake Association access to said outlet

Ownership of the land will revert to the town in the event of the dissolution of the said Road and Gun Club or if the property is no longer used for public purposes.  The public purposes for which the property will be used by said Rod and Gun Club include NY State certified hunting, archery and trapping education programs, maintenance of the property as an educational and recreational resource for the people of the Town of Brookfield, maintenance of the outlet to Gorton Lake, and other public purposes.

This transfer shall take effect not sooner then December 1, 2009 if approved by the voters

Shall this referendum be approved?
